Our Gold Plating ProcessWhen it comes to jewelry, there are several different processes and materials that can be used to achieve a true, solid gold look. From rings to watches and everything else in between, the two most common ways to get that iconic gold look come from gold PVD coating and gold plating.
While many online jewelry manufacturers use inferior gold plating, we use a proprietary 18K PVD gold plating process that ensures a lasting finish, with high shine, and authentic color, free of tarnish.
What’s the difference between TheVault’s 18K gold PVD coating and other manufacturers’ gold plating?
PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is a vacuum coating process that produces a brilliant decorative and functional finish. Our patented 18K gold PVD plating process utilizes a chemical compound called titanium nitride that provides an extremely durable coating. Because of this process, our 18K Gold PVD coatings are more resistant to corrosion from sweat and regular wear than other manufacturers’ gold plating.
Gold plating occurs when a thin layer of real gold is plated onto another metal, such as silver, titanium, or platinum. Gold plating is often done to give the look of real gold at a fraction of the cost of solid gold. The drawback, is that standard gold plating processes don’t offer the durability of our 18K gold PVD coating and when worn regularly or scratched can reveal the base material. That’s a dead giveaway, fam.
Advantages of our 18K Gold PVD Coating
• Corrosion resistant
• Longer lifetime
• Traditional Gold plated pieces can discolor within a short time period
• Our 18K Gold PVD coatings are up to 10 times thicker than standard gold plating
Choosing between gold PVD coating and gold plating comes down to preference and budget, but for us, it’s a matter of pride. Higher-end jewelry requires a coating that’s more durable, longer lasting and is resistant to corrosion. In every instance, our 18K gold PVD coating shines *no pun intended* as the right choice.
We guarantee that each piece will meet your discerning quality standards, and is made to be worn regularly.
